Getting there: The Canadian Rockies are easily accessible by car, bus, train, and air. The two main gateways to the Rockies are Calgary and Vancouver. Both cities have international airports. Once you arrive, you can rent a car, take a bus or train to explore the area. The drive from Calgary to Banff, one of the most popular destinations in the Canadian Rockies, takes about 1.5 hours. And the drive from Vancouver to Banff takes about 10 hours. If you prefer to take a train or bus there are several options available, such as the Rocky Mountaineer train or the Greyhound bus. However, keep in mind that public transportation is limited in the area and a car rental is the best to have the flexibility to explore at your own pace. Things to see and do: - Banff National Park: The most popular destinations in the Canadian Rockies. This park is home to stunning natural beauty, including turquoise lakes, snow-capped mountains and abundant wildlife. - Lake Louise: A stunning glacial lake located in Banff National Park. The lake is surrounded by towering peaks and offers visitors a range of activities, including hiking, canoeing, and skiing. - Jasper National Park: Another popular destination in the Canadian Rockies. This park is known for its vast wilderness and abundant wildlife, including grizzly bears, moose and elk. - Columbia Icefield: A vast glacier located in the Canadian Rockies.
