Angkor Wat (/ˌæŋkɔːr ˈwɒt/Capital of Temples") , located in Siem Reap, is a temple complex in Cambodia and is the largest religious monument in the world. It is also the country's most popular tourist place and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple complex is a must-see destination for any traveler visiting Cambodia. Getting There: Siem Reap International Airport which is just a few kilometers away from the temple complex. From the airport you can take a tuk-tuk, taxi or private car to reach Angkor Wat. I advise you to arrange for a pick-up service that takes you to the hotel in advance. Things to See and Do: - Angkor Wat Temple: This is the main temple and the largest religious monument in the world. It is a masterpiece of Khmer architecture and is considered one of the finest examples of classical Khmer art. - Bayon Temple: This temple is known for its massive stone faces and intricate carvings. It is one of the most popular temples in Angkor and is a must-visit for anyone who loves history and art. - Ta Prohm Temple: This temple is famous for its overgrown trees and vines, which give it a mystical, abandoned feel. It's a great place to explore and take photos. When to Visit: Angkor Wat is open to visitors all year round, but the best time to visit is from November to February when the weather is dry and cool. During this time, the temple complex is less crowded and the visibility is better. Tips: - Hydrate: It's hot in Cambodia, especially during the peak season so make sure to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. - Bring a hat and sunscreen: The sun can be intense in Cambodia so make sure to bring a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun's rays. - Respect the temple: Angkor Wat is a religious monument and it's important to dress modestly and remove your shoes before entering the temples.
